Silixa to present at the 2nd EAGE Workshop on Fiber Optic Sensing for Energy Applications in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 5–7 December 2022

Join us at the 2nd EAGE Workshop on Fiber Optic Sensing for Energy Applications in Kuala Lumpur on 5–7 December 2022 where Pierpaolo Marchesini, Silixa’s Senior Geophysicist, will be presenting on Silixa’s cutting-edge, scalable permanent fiber optic monitoring solutions with special focus on permanent reservoir monitoring.

A fiber optic cable permanently installed in a wellbore is well suited as a cost-effective sensor array that can collect highly repeatable measurements for time-lapse and long-term monitoring. The technology not only offers full wellbore coverage, but also provides measurements that can meet or exceed the sensory capability of traditional point sensors.

The current challenge is though scalability. There is an urgent need to migrate from bespoke, project-by-project custom solutions to a rapidly deployable, application flexible system architecture that requires minimum project specific modification.

Development of the carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) and enhanced geothermal system (EGS) sectors has been significant with distributed fiber optic sensing-based monitoring being adopted as a primary tool for both reservoir characterization as well as long-term monitoring for both injection and/or production optimization and regulatory compliance. The rate of monitoring system deployment is expected to increase substantially as these sectors mature.

Silixa’s innovative Edge-based monitoring platform has been engineered and developed as a modular and scalable solution to address the pending requirements.
