Silixa to present at the Copper Cobalt Africa – 9th Base Metals Conference 2018 in Livingstone, Zambia on 12th July 2018

Daniel Finfer, Silixa’s BDM – Mining, will be presenting on “Flotation process metering of concentrate, slurry, air and water flows using non-intrusive fibre-optic sensing,” at the Copper Cobalt Africa – 9th Base Metals Conference in session 6A, titled “Concentration and flotation.”

During his talk, Daniel will present a case study on a pilot at Anglo American’s Mogalakwena North Concentrator, where a single, continuous length of optical fibre was used to meter concentrate, water, slurry and air flows. The results indicate that this new technology can meter many process flows simultaneously throughout flotation plants using nonintrusive instrumentation, opening a new era for closed loop flow control in flotation.

Jointly hosted by the Mining and Metallurgy Technical Programme Committees of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM), the conference aims to provide a unique forum for discussion, sharing of experience and knowledge for those interested in the processing of copper and cobalt in an African context. It also promotes an understanding of new and existing technologies that can lead to safe and optimal resource utilization.
