Silixa will be presenting material co-authored with Roxar on Multiphase, Multizone Flowmetry via Eddy Tracking and Sound Speed Measurement using a Distributed Acoustic Sensing System at the 4th European Flow Measurement Workshop in Noordwijk, Netherlands on 29-31 March, 2016.
Flowmetry using DAS can be performed unobtrusively via a single sensing fibre wrapped densely on the exterior of a pipe. Using this geometric arrangement, DAS output can be interpreted for information relating to both eddy convection and sound speed data in upstream environments.
Daniel Finfer, Silixa’s Head of Applications Development, will share the results of a multiphase flow measurement test where three DAS-enabled sensing zones were installed in series with a ROXAR multiphase flow meter (MPFM) within a three-phase flow loop. The output from these experiments showed good agreement between the DAS and MPFM across a broad range of flow speeds and flow types, including single phase liquid and gas flows, two phase liquid-gas and liquid-liquid flows, and three phase oil-water-gas flows.
The 4th European Flow Measurement Workshop provides a forum for the most experienced engineers and specialized measurement institutes in flow measurement to share their latest developments and challenges in flow metering systems and liquid flow. End users can update their knowledge and share their best practices and challenges on utilizing these flow meter systems.
