Mohammad Amir, Silixa’s Technical Lead in Mining, will be presenting on Flotation Mass Pull Measurement Using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) at the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration’s Annual Conference & Expo in Denver, USA on 26 February 2019.
During his talk, Mohammad will present a case study on a recent pilot at Anglo American’s Mogalakwena North Concentrator, where the goal was to estimate the mass pull on a cell-by-cell basis. Regression methods were used to compare the optical flow metering data with reference output monitored both with cameras and sump flow meters. The results show that acoustic signal processing can be applied to obtain output which is comparable, or better, in quality compared to the output obtained using flotation cameras.
2019 SME Annual Conference & Expo and CMA 121st National Western Mining Conference is the mining and metallurgy industry’s premier event. The event provides a forum for more than 6,000 industry professionals from across the world to share innovative ideas, best practices and cutting-edge research in more than 120 technical sessions.
