Fiber Optic Workshop 2026

Silixa presenting at the SPE Fiber-Optic Sensing for Field Development, Asset Integrity & Optimization Workshop on 24–26 March, 2026 in Aberdeen

The evolution of fibre-optic systems has delivered remarkable improvements in quantitative well and reservoir monitoring. These advancements have generated significant value during early project stages and throughout the entire asset lifecycle.

Erick Jimenez, Silixa’s Senior Petrophysics Data Analyst, will present on the combined use of distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) and distributed temperature sensing (DTS) for production and injection monitoring.

His presentation, titled “Integrated DAS and DTS for Production and Injection Monitoring: Understanding Dynamic Fluid Behavior Across the Full Wellbore,” will be delivered during Session 2 on Tuesday, 24 March 2026.

The talk will demonstrate how derivatives extracted from combined DAS and DTS measurements enable a unique workflow for precise flow allocation mapping, phase change identification, and detection of localized injection breakthroughs. It will highlight the value of this stationary, distributed sensing-based, always on monitoring system, which covers the full completion length, and its ability to capture both rapid flow régime changes and long term trends to enhance production efficiency.

By fostering knowledge sharing and networking, the workshop will explore fibre optic monitoring technologies that optimize reservoir and field development, with a strong focus on real world case studies.
