Silixa and BP/Lytt to hold VSP keynote speech on the First Subsea DAS installation for Deep Water Reservoir monitoring in the GoM BP Atlantis field at the 1st EAGE Workshop on Fiber Optic Sensing

Sebastien Soulas, BP/Lytt Borehole Seismic Product Lead, and Garth Naldrett, Silixa’s Chief Product Officer, are presenting a keynote speech on the First Subsea DAS installation for Deep Water Reservoir Monitoring in the GoM BP Atlantis field, at the 1st EAGE Workshop on Fiber Optic Sensing on March 10th , 2020, at 2:05pm.

BP’s Atlantis Phase 3 development involves the construction of a new subsea production system and eight new wells, tied into the current platform situated 150 miles south of New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico.

Working closely with BP and Lytt, Silixa have engineered and optimised the Carina® Subsea 4D system for seismic acquisition on Atlantis Phase 3. Carina® Subsea 4D is the world’s first permanent ultra HD in-well seismic data acquisition system for subsea wells. Installed as part of the well completion, the engineered fibre optic system enables ultra-high definition 4D VSP data acquisition on demand without the introduction of additional operational costs and risks. This allows operators to perform more frequent seismic acquisitions at a much lower cost, enabling them to accelerate production and increase ultimate recovery.

The speech will address the challenges involved in Atlantis Phase 3 reservoir imaging, the role DAS VSP will play at improving the seismic image quality, the technical challenges of DAS deployment and technology qualification carried out over the past 18 months.
